Recently, it’s been the debated topic – who’s the best player in the NHL. Without argument, most people would say it’s Sidney Crosby. I tend to agree. But what happens when the discussion turns to the best franchise player? 

We’re not talking about just pure skill. But a franchise player is about their ability off the ice, their leadership, the player who is a game changer in the locker room. With that in mind, is it safe to say that Crosby is the best franchise player? That’s where this Tape2Tape column starts the debate.

    He’s recognized by people all over Canada, even those who aren’t hockey fans. Sid is one of those players that GMs would fantasize over at night.

    • Skill-wise sure, but there are players around the league that match his intensity and leadership. In fact, I would argue that some of them even beat him on those two attributes.
