Travelling back in time, I take a look at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and the Maple Leafs first-round decision. The Leafs picked London-native Nazem Kadri with their first-round, seventh overall pick – a player that wasn’t even on Central Scouting’s radar prior to the draft.

In my latest piece for The Hockey Writers, I analyze their choice and look at the very few possible replacements that were taken after Kadri in the entire draft. Were the Leafs right in taking the forward seventh overall? Or was there a better player, with more potential the team could’ve consider.
