Amidst a dreadful losing streak, the Detroit Red Wings are trying to find ways of changing their fortunes. What can they do to change the directions of their team? In fact, can they even identify what’s wrong? 

Missing Johan Franzen, piecing together a second line, and ignoring the critics – they’re all part of a cumulative problem. All of them are contributing to the stumbling of this perennial powerhouse.

In a story featured on The Hockey Writers, I try to identify some of the keys to their struggles and what can be done to fix them. But whatever the cause, the Red Wings need to find a way of turning it around – and do it soon.
