Red Wings: Future Numbers Among the Rafters

There aren’t many numbers retired around the league – and only six that hang in the rafters of Joe Louis Arena. Steve Yzerman is the latest to have his number retired by the Detroit Red Wings – but should there be others? 

This coming March, former captain and Wings’ defenceman Nicklas Lidstrom will have his number five lifted to the rafters amongst other former greats – including Alex Delvecchio, Gordie Howe, Ted Lindsay, Sid Abel, and Terry Sawchuk.

With that event on the horizon – here’s a short list of some others who should be considered for the honour of having their number retired by the Red Wings.
