The Vow (2012)

My heart pounded in my chest as the credits rolled following director Michael Sucsy’s latest film, ‘The Vow’.  Whether it was the heartwarming performance of costars Rachel McAdams (The Notebook) and Channing Tatum (Dear John) or the history of the story itself, this film is one that truly drew emotion from its audiences.

Depicting the real life story of Kim and Krickitt Carpenter, this film uses their trials and tribulations to tell the tale of a ‘once in a lifetime love’.

When Paige Collins (McAdams) suffers a head injury in a car accident causing her to experience symptoms of retrograde amnesia, her husband Leo (Tatum) is forced to fight for her heart all over again.

‘The Vow’ is a romantic drama that puts true love to the ultimate test.  With twists and turns throughout the plot, the characters and their stories pull at the emotions of the viewers forcing them to answer the question… ‘What if this happened to me?’

McAdams and Tatum team up to deliver a story of hope and passion, a story of relentlessness in the pursuit of love and happiness.

Although some of the films visual effects were jarring – the crash sequence more specifically – nothing could hinder the chemistry between characters and the emotional connection formed between the characters and the audience.

A timeless love story, this film is a must-see as it will draw on every emotion.  Let yourself be absorbed into the pain, and the passion of this film.  Feel the hurt, the emotions of Sucsy’s protagonists, and I assure you that this will be a heart-pounding experience.  It’s a story that will be talked about for years, one that McAdams and Tatum bring to life.

This film allows us to see a ‘once in a lifetime love’.  This – well this was a ‘once in a lifetime love’.
